By age of 6 to 9 months normally babies tend to start sitting independently, this position could be at times for short duration , which over a period of time gets better.

You may give massages and also exposure to morning sunlight.
YOu may give them various opportunities to expoler and try it on his , so leave him on the floor, make him sit between your legs when you sit down and read books to them or play
