A. Yes! At six months, you can start giving solids along with continued breastfeeding or formula. This stage is called "complementary feeding", meaning food + milk together. Here’s what you can give: First foods: Rice water (thin, easy to digest) Dal water (lentil soup without salt) Mashed banana (small amount) Steamed and mashed apple or pear Soft khichdi (moong dal + rice very well cooked, mashed) Vegetable purée (carrot, pumpkin, bottle gourd — steamed and mashed) Important tips: Start with 1–2 spoons once a day, slowly increase. Give only one new food at a time (watch for allergies). Food should be smooth, not chunky. No salt, sugar, or honey till 1 year. Continue breastfeeding/formula as main nutrition. Simple first-week plan example: Day 1–2: Rice water Day 3–4: Moong dal water Day 5–6: Mashed banana Day 7: Steamed apple mash
