Looking for a quick-fix lunch box recipe that is delicious and easy to make? Check out this recipe. This sattu ke parathe are pretty much instant – the filling can be prepared in just a minute. It tastes best with some yogurt and pickle. Here is how you can make it.

  • 1 cup atta
  • A pinch of salt
  • Water to make the dough.
  • 2 tbsp ghee/clarified butter for pan frying the parathas

For the Filling

  • 3 tbsp besan
  • 1 tbsp oil
  • 1 tbsp water
  • ¼ tsp carom seeds
  • ½ tsp red chilli powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric powder
  • ¼ tsp garam masala
  • ½ tsp salt


Step 1

In a large bowl, add atta, salt and using water knead a soft dough. Cover and let it sit for 15-20 minutes.

Step 2

For the stuffing, mix all the ingredients listed for the filling. Make a runny paste with the ingredients.

Step 3

Knead the dough again and form 4-6 equal sized dough balls. Using some dry flour, roll the dough ball into a small chapati.

Step 4

Smear the prepared filling on it and join the edges forming a ball. Using some dry flour again, roll it into a 6-7 cm round roti.

Step 5

Cook the paratha on a heated tava. Use 1 teaspoon of ghee on each side and when both sides look golden in colour, it is done. Repeat the same with the rest of the dough and filling.

Step 6

Pack it into your kid’s lunch box along with yogurt, pickle and salad for a filling meal.
