My Experience of Living With My In-Laws

I recently had a baby. This was my first pregnancy, and throughout my pregnancy, I experienced nausea and vomiting. In my first trimester, I would vomit six to seven times per day, after which the morning sickness reduced, but it was there until the third trimester. In this period, my in-laws shared their experiences and explained that this would not affect the baby’s development. I think I survived through my pregnancy because of them.

When I had my baby, I was very scared and confused about how I will take care of her. When we were nearing the onset of winter, I had no idea how to protect my infant. And, once again, my in-laws and my parents shared their own experiences and assured me that I would be able to take care of my baby. They taught me how to handle the baby, how to feed her, how to soothe her, etc. They taught me all the massage techniques, too.

They also have taken care of me post-delivery. They told me the importance of resting and what I should eat and what should be avoided. They are taking care of my diet and have scheduled my meals to help me take care of myself and speed up my recovery.

I would say that living with in-law is a boon for me!

But I have seen some in-laws who don’t care for their daughters-in-law and treat them badly. I had a relative who asked her daughter-in-law to stop breastfeeding to her 2-month-old infant as she caught a cold after doing household chores, and her child suffered from pneumonia.

It is your luck to have good in-laws, and many times, it is your understanding and way of thinking.
