Winter has arrived and before your skin gets a chance to feel dry, itchy and dull, reinforce your skin care routine with these 6 effective winter skin care tips.
1. Stay Hydrated
The air is drier during the winter season. As a result, the water gets evaporated very easily from your body. Though during winters you might not feel as thirsty as in other seasons it is important to maintain your regular intake of water. You can even try binging on foods high in water content to keep your skin hydrated in and out.
2. Choose Moisturizer Cautiously
During winter months, be sure to choose oil-based moisturizer rather than water based solutions as it will help your skin retain moisture and keep your skin smooth and subtle.
3. Avoid Hot Showers
As the temperature is dipping it’s very tempting to go for hot showers. But hot showers dry your skin very quickly, instead use lukewarm water to shower. And after the shower immediately apply the moisture as this will prevent your skin from dryness.
4. Avoid Toxin Soaps
Avoid skin products and antibacterial soaps containing alcohol and fragrance as it may strip off natural oils from your skin. Instead choose organic, natural and fragrance- free soaps, you can also try essential oils.
5. Exfoliating of Skin
Exfoliating of skin is important to get rid of dead skin cells. But you have to be cautious during the winter season as your skin barrier is already compromised due to the dry and cold weather. Find an exfoliating mask and use on your face, hands, and lips then immediately moisturize your skin to see the smoothed difference.
6. Use Homemade Mask
Homemade hydrating masks provide required moisture in this chilly season. Use natural and organic moisturizing ingredients like aloe vera, honey, olive, yogurt, jojoba oil, banana, and almond oil. Combine what you like together and make a cream or paste and apply on your skin for 10-15 minutes for lasting hydration.
