Chicken Kheema Recipe

Kheema is essentially minced meat and used in many dishes like curries, samosa, or cutlets. This simple Chicken kheema recipe can be prepared in no time and also be alternated with lamb or egg. Soft, tasty, and delicious, it goes well with chapatis, parathas, and rice. The soft dry curry texture is what makes it a hit with the kids. You can introduce chicken in your baby’s diet for 6 months. Start with soups and gradually introduce whole pieces of meat. Once your toddler is used to eating rice and roti, this chicken kheema will appease their palate as an accompaniment.

Onions finely chopped ¾ cup
Green Chilli 1 slit
Tomato finely chopped 1
Ginger Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
Meat Masala or Garam Masala ¾ teaspoon
Mint leaves 8
Chicken (minced) 250 grams
Turmeric ¼ teaspoon
Coriander leaves 1 tablespoon
Green peas or cashews ( optional) ¼ cup
Cream or coconut milk (optional) 1/3 cup

Just follow this step-by-step guide to learn how to make chicken kheema.

  1. Heat ghee in a pan and add the bay leaf, cloves, cumin seeds, cardamom, and peppercorns. Let them sizzle.
  2. Then add the chopped onions and green chilies. Saute for a few minutes until they cook.
  3. Add the ginger-garlic paste and saute until the raw smell disappears.
  4. Add the tomatoes and cook until they become mushy.
  5. Add the chili powder, mint leaves, and meat masala powder. Fry until they blend well with the onion and tomato mixture. Now transfer this mixture to a plate.
  6. In the same kadhai, add bay leaf and the minced meat. Sprinkle the turmeric and salt.
  7. Cover and cook on a low flame until the meat is cooked in its water.
  8. Once cooked, add the onion-tomato mixture to the meat and mix well.
  9. Cook on a low flame until the meat and onion-tomato mixture blend well. If you are making a dry curry, then wait until all the moisture evaporates.
  10. If you want to make the curry version, add coconut milk to the mixture in the end. Alternatively, if you want to add cream, add the cooked kheema to the cream in parts and blend well.
  11. Garnish with coriander and serve hot.
